Terms of Service

Draft · Last updated 30 March 2026

Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Shafaq, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.

Nature of the Service

Shafaq is an Islamic life platform providing tools for prayer time calculation, zakat calculation, spiritual self-accounting, Islamic inheritance planning, and charitable giving guidance. Shafaq is operated by Shafaq Pty Ltd, an Australian Proprietary Limited company.

Prayer Times: Approximation Disclaimer

Prayer times displayed by Shafaq are calculated using astronomical algorithms applied to your location and a selected calculation method. These are estimates only. Actual prayer times may vary based on local conditions, horizon obstructions, local mosque schedules, or scholarly differences in method. Shafaq accepts no responsibility for any consequence arising from reliance on calculated prayer times. Users should verify prayer times with their local mosque or a trusted local authority.

Miraath (Islamic Estate Planner): Informational Use Only

The Miraath Islamic Estate Planner provides informational calculations only based on classical faraidh principles. It is not legal advice. It is not a substitute for advice from a qualified Islamic scholar or a licensed estate lawyer.

Miraath calculations do not account for all scenarios. Complex estates, disputes between heirs, interaction with Australian civil law (including but not limited to: superannuation nominations, jointly held property, testamentary trusts, or family provision claims under the Succession Act 2006 (NSW) or equivalent state legislation), or matters of contested interpretation across madhabs require personalised advice from qualified professionals.

Shafaq Pty Ltd accepts no liability for any estate planning decisions made in reliance on Miraath outputs. You must obtain independent legal and scholarly advice for actual estate planning.

Zakat Calculator: Informational Use Only

The Zakat calculator provides estimates based on standard faraidh principles, metal spot prices, and the asset values you enter. It is a guide only. Zakat obligations may vary based on your madhab, personal circumstances, and scholarly interpretation. Shafaq accepts no responsibility for any shortfall or overpayment in zakat arising from use of this tool. If you are uncertain of your zakat obligation, consult a qualified Islamic scholar.

User Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must not use Shafaq for any unlawful purpose. You must not attempt to access other users' data or interfere with the service's operation.

Intellectual Property

All content, design, and software comprising Shafaq is owned by Shafaq Pty Ltd or its licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the service without written permission.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, Shafaq Pty Ltd excludes all liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Shafaq after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
